SoundWorks Studios began as an idea from Ben — driven by a desire to create unique, handcrafted audio products, and to build something meaningful alongside his father, Paul. What started as a shared passion for music and design has grown into a family-run studio dedicated to crafting speakers with character, longevity, and soul.
Rooted in the Lake District, and inspired by a heritage of honest craftsmanship, we believe a great speaker should be warm, inviting, and interesting to listen to — something you buy to keep, not to replace with the next model. Every design is approached with care, curiosity, and a commitment to lasting quality.
Working closely together, we challenge each other, push boundaries, and combine our strengths to form a focused and flexible studio. Wherever the future leads, our aim remains the same: to create beautiful, long-lasting speakers that people can truly connect with.
Growing up around music and hi-fi systems, my passion for audio began through evenings spent listening with my dad. Those early experiences shaped not only my love for sound, but also my appreciation for what a well-made speaker can bring into a space — something you live with, enjoy daily, and form a connection to.
I am a self-taught designer with over two years of experience developing and experimenting with audio projects, learning through hands-on building, research, and continuous refinement. While I work with various CAD tools during the design stage, I strongly believe that nothing replaces real-world testing and iteration. Many SoundWorks designs evolve through careful trial and error, allowing each piece to become something unique and considered.
At SoundWorks Studios, I lead the physical and structural side of product design — from integrating speaker systems into furniture forms, to cabinet layout, internal padding, and overall construction methods. My focus is on creating designs that are both acoustically effective and visually timeless.
My design philosophy is simple: speakers should be as beautiful as they are musical. The SoundWorks sound is warm, inviting, and pleasing to listen to, with detail present where it matters most. I aim to create speakers that people feel proud to own — pieces that become part of a home, not just equipment within it.
No matter how large or small SoundWorks becomes, we remain committed to focusing on one design at a time, prioritising quality, craftsmanship, and honest sound above all else. We build for listeners of every kind — whether they seek a striking visual statement, or a truly high-quality audio experience.
Paul’s passion for hi-fi began at a young age, starting with his first midi system in the 1980s and growing into a lifelong interest in sound and music reproduction. Entirely self-taught, he has spent decades listening, learning, and developing a deep understanding of what makes a speaker truly musical.
At SoundWorks Studios, Paul leads acoustic engineering and voicing. He has a keen ear for matching bass drivers with tweeters, shaping tonal balance, and refining each design through careful listening and evaluation. Working closely with Ben, he helps form the acoustic foundation of every product, ensuring that each speaker delivers a warm, natural, and engaging sound.
Paul is particularly inspired by vintage warmth and classic hi-fi designs, including his long-owned Wharfedale speakers — a personal benchmark for longevity and musical enjoyment. That same philosophy carries into SoundWorks: speakers built to be cherished, enjoyed daily, and kept for many years.
Above all, Paul values the opportunity to work alongside Ben, combining shared passion with complementary skills to create something meaningful together.
